Founded in 2011, Partners In Health Canada is at an exciting stage in our development and is seeking a part-time independent contractor Bookkeeper to join our team. The Bookkeeper is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports. Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Bookkeeper will maintain all the necessary and appropriate records and files for PIH Canada’s financial operations. This is a flexible position of approximately 15 – 20 hours per week, and will be based in our Toronto office.
Maintain all financial transaction records in QuickBooks Online
Receive invoices and seek appropriate approvals for payment
Process and reconcile organization credit card statement ensuring supporting documents are included.
Prepare vendor payable files and process cheques for signing and distribution.
Prepare monthly financial statements (including Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss) by
collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information
Responsible for accounts by reconciling, verifying, allocating and posting transactions.
Reconcile monthly bank statements to accounting records
Certification in bookkeeping, financial management or equivalent experience.
Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and GAAP
Must be familiar with QuickBooks Online
Minimum of three years full-charge bookkeeping experience. Non-profit accounting experience will be considered a strong asset.
Advanced Excel skills; highly efficient and excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks
Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries.
Be discrete and understand matters of confidentiality
Interest in social justice strongly desirable.
