This Opportunity:
The Uganda Health Activity (UHA) aims to increase access to and use of quality healthcare services and improve the performance of the health system at subnational levels in priority districts. Intended high-level results include: Improved access to and use of quality maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH); family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH); nutrition; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)/infection prevention and control (IPC) health services at facility- and community-levels; Enhanced local ownership and leadership for sustainable health outcomes; Strengthened health system resilience at the regional-, district-, and community-levels; UHA will also strengthen the capacity of local PEPFAR implementing partners (IPs) to lead and sustain the epidemic response as part of sustainability efforts.
The Uganda Health Activity is an anticipated project, and the position is contingent upon award from USAID.

Reporting and Supervision:
Technical Experts will report to the corresponding Key Personnel lead.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide overall contributions to their respective area of focus.
These positions will also assist coordination among USAID, donors, other health implementing partners, and numerous Government of Uganda (GoU) institutions and representatives, particularly at the regional and district levels for integrated health service delivery activities.
Assist overall technical and operational direction to ensure that work plans and activity tasks are compliant with USAID, GoU, and internally recognized standards and protocols.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Key Competencies Required:
Degree in related field.
At least 5 years of experience in relevant technical area in a similar context, with preference for experience on USAID or other USG-funded activities.
Previous experience working in Uganda as an advisor or staff member.
Experience and expertise in above-mentioned technical areas or positions.
Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with a broad range team members and key stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate fluently, both verbally and in writing, in English.
Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:
Nationals of Uganda are strongly encouraged to apply.
Previous work experience in East Africa strongly preferred.
Existing relationships with Ugandan stakeholders a plus.
