Are you hard working, self-motivated and have good attention to detail and are ready for a progression in your career?

Do you want a new challenge in a job where no two days are the same?

If so then this is an opportunity you cannot miss!!!

An exceptional and rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join a forward thinking department as an Advanced Clinical Technologist within Medical Physics Technical Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Cancer Centre. The department has 6 linear accelerators, two Accuray Tomotherapy machines, CyberKnife and a superficial X-ray machine.  There is an ongoing replacement program for our Linacs and our latest Elekta VersaHD is soon to become clinical.  The successful candidate will be part of a highly specialised team repairing and maintaining our Linear accelerators and other equipment and also be responsible for supervising and training the team within Technical Services.

This role is ideal for an experienced and highly motivated service engineer who is looking for the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will have experience in the healthcare or other industries that deal with highly complex electronics and stringent safety regulations.

The candidate will take the engineering lead on the new technologies associated with medical linear accelerators, X-ray machines and other complex medical equipment and ensure this expertise is disseminated to the technical services team.

The candidate will have a degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Extensive specialist knowledge of electronic and mechanical engineering practice (analogue, digital and power electronic components, devices, systems and design, and electro-mechanical systems) and the ability to deploy innovative skills to develop work procedures is also required.

Eligibility to join the Membership of the Institute of Physics & Engineering in Medicine’s Register of Clinical Technologists is essential.

Ideally, the candidate will also have experience of engineering training and supervision as the appointee will also manage the supervision and training of engineering staff and apprentices.

The successful candidate will be organised, self-motivated and must definitely possess good communication and fault finding skills.

Applicants may be considered at a lower band subject to qualifications and experience.
