Title: Sierra Leone Reproductive & Maternal Health Project Associate

Hiring Manager: Reproductive, Maternal & Child Health Clinical Manager, dotted line reporting to the Policy & Partnership team

Location: Kono, Sierra Leone

Organizational Profile:

Partners In Health (PIH) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Boston, MA, whose mission is to provide quality health care for the poor and marginalized in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Peru, Mexico, Russia, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Navajo Nation. Through service delivery, training, advocacy and research, PIH works around the globe to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of it, to serve as an antidote to despair, and inspire others to do the same.

This is an exciting time for PIH. We are taking on immense challenges, and a newfound visibility has brought the opportunity to influence great change on the global stage and work towards one of our five key priorities — ending preventable maternal deaths. Partners In Health has spent three decades delivering interventions the world said were impossible to deliver to people in places the world wanted to leave behind – MDR-TB treatment, community-based directly observed therapy—and PIH is succeeding. Closing the gap on preventable maternal deaths in the country where it’s the most difficult is no exception.

PIH seeks individuals committed to the mission and values (see PIH Values) of the organization to join the team.

General Responsibilities:

One of the key strategic priorities of the PIH Sierra Leone (PIH-SL) program is to address the atrociously high rate of maternal and child death and, as such, our Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (RMNCH) program is at the core of what we do. Our RMNCH Program aims to support the government’s priority initiative of halving maternal and neonatal mortality by strengthening the full continuum of care for women and their children—from community to facility.

As a member of the PIH Sierra Leone’s RMNCH program team, the RMNCH Project Manager will provide day to day support to the program, including overall support in three key areas: i) overall project support on operationalization and implementation of RMNCH projects and initiatives, including helping to pioneer and support new strategies with the RMNCH Clinical Manager ii) overseeing the work planning, compliance, and management of the key RMNCH grant portfolio, and ii) collaborating on documentation, evaluation, knowledge sharing and learning.

The right candidate will have a strong clinical or non-clinical background in RMNCH with technical knowledge of public health evidence on reproductive, maternal, and/or child health and an ability to lead technical writing about RMNCH interventions. The candidate will be nimble, action-oriented and flexible to changing needs of our patients and programs, willing to do what it takes and hop on new projects to deliver on behalf of those we serve. The candidate will have experience working on restricted grant-funded projects and leadings compliance activities related to award management. Successful candidates will have a strong ability to translate ideas into action and move projects forward.
