London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for

We are seeking to appoint a part-time (0.1 FTE) Research Fellow based at the Africa Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS) at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in ground-breaking research on gender, migration and health systems. The post-holder will have a key role in developing and managing a policy work stream as part of an overall research grant focused on gender, migration and health systems in South Africa. The work will involve activities throughout the project cycle including conducting data collection and analysis, drafting research publications and presenting findings, as well as actively participating in the overall research process and the active life of the ACMS. A key role of this post is liaison with local stakeholders, in particular the South African Department of Health.
successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral
degree, in a relevant field such as policy analysis or systems research, experience
in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on patient mobility,
migration and health and in working with the Department of Health on these issues.
Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to
communicate effectively both orally and in writing, evidence of good
organizational skills, including effective time management. Further particulars

This part-time post is funded until January 2022, with potential for extension pending funding
confirmation. The salary is on the Academic Scale, Grade 6 £39,304 – £44,634
per annum pro rata (inclusive of London weighting). No relocation allowance
will be paid. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of
service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for
part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”.
