We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on the DoRIS HPV vaccine dose-reduction trial in Mwanza, Tanzania.

The post-holder will coordinate a large clinical trial that is evaluating dose-reduction of two prophylactic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. The post involves: coordination of the DoRIS trial study activities that are implemented by the Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU) in Tanzania; supervision and guidance to the trial team; liaison with collaborators in Africa, the US and Europe; coordination of the collection of data and samples; monitoring of recruitment and follow-up; liaison with the trial monitors; preparation of progress reports; monitoring of trial procedures, including adverse event reporting; contributions to the scientific life at MITU and to teaching/lecturing at LSHTM and preparation of scientific reports and presentations.

The candidate will join a highly successful and supportive team at the forefront of HPV vaccine research. Applicants are encouraged to develop their own research within this field, in collaboration with colleagues at LSHTM and elsewhere. 

The successful candidate will have a Masters-level qualification in epidemiology, public health or a closely-related field; significant experience coordinating clinical trials or large epidemiological field studies; research experience in a developing country; practical experience of working on GCP-compliant studies, including familiarity of study monitoring visits; evidence of having worked effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary scientific team, evidence of understanding of clinical trials and quality assurance and excellent interpersonal skills. This full-time post is funded until 31 March 2021. The salary will be on the Academic Grade 6 scale in the range £39,304 – £44,634 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this, there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
