VSO is the world’s leading international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty. Working in 24 countries around the world, our unique role in international development is to place committed volunteers with carefully selected organisations where their skills can have the greatest impact. Our extraordinary volunteers live and work in some of the world’s poorest communities. Sharing their unique skills and experience to generate new ideas and new ways of doing things, helping the communities they work in lift themselves out of poverty. We’re not about delivering quick fixes, but instead we focus on long-lasting, sustainable change, that will impact generations to come. Join us and help us work towards our vision of a world without poverty.
We have an exciting opportunity in the People Resourcing Department at VSO. Currently VSO sends around 1000 youth volunteers a year overseas to take part in the International Citizen Service (ICS) Programme.
The primary focus of this role will be on providing outstanding volunteer management and support to young people about to head off and volunteer in Cambodia, Uganda, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Zambia, Nepal, Nigeria or Kenya.
As a part of the broader team you will also be involved in a wide variety of tasks which contribute to the recruitment, training and resettlement of volunteers on the VSO ICS Programme.
Skills, qualifications and experience
We’re looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who can build supportive relationships with volunteers, their team and the wider organisation. The ideal candidate will be highly organised with excellent administration skills, able to prioritise conflicting deadlines, and have a high attention to detail and accuracy. A strong team focus is imperative to success in this role, as is a flexible approach to take on a varied workload.
