The purpose of the Education Support Initiative is to recruit, hire and maintain technical, professional, operational, and support staff that supply services to the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Education Office and education sector. It includes full-time positions as well as short- and medium-term consultants.

E3 Bureau: The Bureau for Economic Growth, Education, and Environment (E3) provides technical leadership, research, and field support for worldwide activities in the areas of Economic Growth and Trade, Infrastructure and Engineering, Education, Environment and Global Climate Change, Water, and Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. E3 represents the Agency on relevant technical matters in the Inter-agency and with Congress, outside partners, other donors and multilateral institutions.
The Bureau also supports research and rigorous impact evaluations to advance Agency strategies and programs in E3 sectors and determine the most effective approaches. E3 encourages innovation and is working on two Grand Challenges for Development, in education and energy, as well as other methods to identify new ideas and bring them to scale.
E3/Education: The Education Office (E3/ED) has a mandate spanning policies and programs involved in providing quality educational services at the basic and higher education levels, including in crisis- and conflict-affected settings. E3/ED leverages its expertise, partnerships, and global perspective to guide and influence the Education Sector, advancing the Agency’s development priorities. The Office provides expertise and guidance to USAID bureaus and field missions on the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of USAID policy, planning, and programs in the areas of basic education, youth workforce development and higher education. The Office assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Agency policies, strategies, and resource allocation priorities; and advises Agency leadership on developments that could have an impact on Agency performance in education programming. It also provides relevant technical content and trainers for professional development programs for Agency staff worldwide, especially those in the Education sector. The Office also oversees the recruitment, selection, and pre-deployment training of new Foreign Service Education Officers.
The USAID Office of Education is responsible for advancing the priorities and principles of the USAID Education Policy. The Education in Conflict and Crisis Team aims to advance the strategic priority ensuring children and youth, particularly children living in crisis- and conflict-affected environments, have increased access to quality education that is safe, relevant, and promotes social well-being.
About the Position
Through Dexis Consulting Group, the USAID Office of Education is seeking a short-term Senior Advisor in Education in Crisis and Conflict to provide technical support to USAID missions; to develop timely and relevant technical guidance, tools and resources; to support education sector risk analysis in targeted countries; and to organize and deliver professional development and training for USAID staff and partners on education in crisis. The incumbent serves as an Advisor embedded in USAID’s Office of Education (ED) within the Bureau for Education, Environment, and Economic Growth (E3). The position will sit on the Office’s Education in Crisis and Conflict (EiCC) team. The Advisor conducts work assignments that cross organizational lines.
