Project Overview and Role:

The Senior Technical & Business
Development Advisor will provide leadership, direction, and content to global
health supply chain projects, including the integration of finance, policy,
HRH, QA/QI methodologies and standards, and service integration. Responsibilities
require knowledge and experience in best practices, donor direction and
initiatives, as well as state-of-the-art innovations in the domain area. The
Senior Technical & Business Development Advisor will lead organizational
strategies, grow new business in the area of Global Health Supply Chains and
lead new business development opportunities, including cross-regional and cross
sector collaboration within the company in order to build a robust portfolio of
GHSC programs. In addition, and where possible, the Senior Technical &
Business Develop Advisor will provide overall technical support to various
projects, assist country teams to develop technical strategies, approaches and
plans, implement activities, and monitor progress towards outlined project
milestone/ deliverables/ approved workplans.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide senior level technical assistance across Palladium projects and business development opportunities in the design, development, and implementation of GHSC
  • Serve as thought leader on global health supply chain and lead the design and implementation of GHSC technical support activities, strategies, and approaches
  • Stay abreast of key developments in Supply Chain innovations and interventions across key donors and partners. This includes frequent interaction with donor staff, governments, academics, and other stakeholders relevant to this area, as well as multilateral partners and donor agencies
  • Prepare analyses, recommendations, briefing notes, white papers and assessments for internal and client use
  • Represent projects, Palladium, and programs in GHSC, as well as with others in the professional community
  • Interact with internal and external resources and other experts to bring “out -of-the-box” partners and new/ “cutting edge” ideas into approaches
  • Develop capacity of and mentor staff in GHSC management and best practices and new developments in the procurement of medicines and other health commodities
  • Lead organizational strategies and new business development opportunities in these areas and contribute to proposal processes developing innovative solutions that optimize and build on current GHSC practices while identifying and addressing deficiencies; provide input to monitoring and evaluation plans
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • Experience in providing technical advisory services and/or program management of global public health projects, specifically in the context of GHSC
  • Experience providing procurement and supply chain services for family planning, diagnostics, and/or malaria health commodities
  • Experience working with family planning, diagnostics, and/or malaria and/or data management, and/or other relevant technical work experience
  • Experience working with family planning, diagnostics, and/or malaria in a developing country context strongly preferred, specifically related to supply chain management and/or supply systems strengthening
  • Experience managing USAID global project(s) and relationship with USAID; keen understanding of USAID expectations and regulations
  • Experience building a creative and talented team and leading toward a unified vision
  • Prior experience developing strategic plans, workplans, and/or SOPs for USAID-funded global health programs
  • Experience writing technical proposals for global health programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and high comfort level writing and presenting data and information in a compelling way to difference audiences
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams
  • Excellent written and spoken English and ability to communicate across technical disciplines and non-technical audience
