This Opportunity:
The Private Sector Engagement and Sustainability (PSES) Director will manage the Palladium team to achieve project objectives related to Objective 3: Supply Chain Systems and Pharmaceutical Services sustained and its efficiency improved. The PSES Director will report to the Deputy Chief of Party and will lead teams on activity implementation and ensure Objective 3 activities remain on schedule with the approved workplan and Objective 3 milestones and deliverables being met. They will liaise with national stakeholders, including government agencies, other donor-funded projects, and implementing partners. The PSES Director will be responsible for developing and compiling quarterly and annual reports on ongoing activities.
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead Objective 3 technical activities related to private sector engagement and financial sustainability of the supply chain sector.
Support the development of a strategic plan that reflects the context and global priorities.
Lead efforts to engage the private sector in pharmaceutical and supply chain services through activities such as: supporting policy development to define and increase private sector participation; fostering implementation of the MOH’s existing public-private guidelines; developing private sector engagement strategy.Create programs to increase the financial sustainability of the supply chain sector, such as strengthen capacity of EPSS workforce on planning, and support MOH and EPSS to develop a comprehensive sustainable financing strategy for health products.
Design and lead the implementation of quality workplans while ensuring effective use of data, performance, and risk management.
Interface with project stakeholders, to plan, implement, review, and report on projects and deliverables or products as needed.
Key Competencies Required:
Master’s degree in global public health, business, supply chain management, public administration, healthcare administration, or a related field.
Experience with public or private sector supply chains or the pharmaceuticals industry and an understanding of commercial needs of private sector firms in these spaces.
Understanding of donor funded support of health supply chains and the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in a senior leadership position that required the assembling, managing, and supervising complex teams.
Experience with global health (supply chain management, procurement, warehousing or logistics) programs and pharmaceutical services
Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable health finance best practices and past initiatives in Ethiopia.
Demonstrated experience coordinating and collaborating with stakeholders including government agencies, host country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise leadership, build teams, maintain effective communication, motivate, and generate commitment within a team.
Excellent written and spoken English and ability to communicate across technical disciplines and non-technical audience required.
Proficiency in Amharic and other local languages is beneficial.
