The Manager will support the Rockefeller Foundation with the implementation of its strategic vision for global public health. Specifically, the strategy focuses on ensuring equity in global vaccination through the Global Vaccination Initiative (GVI).
The Global Vaccination Initiative invests in and supports programs to address demand-side issues to help LMICs mitigate the “uptake plateau” and achieve 80% of older and higher risk adults and 90% of HCW fully vaccinated by the end of 2022. GVI will invest in projects and programs to increase vaccine awareness, acceptance, and uptake and building stronger systems that can deliver vaccines across the lifespan and prepare countries to respond to pandemic threats.
Reporting to Director at the Health team, the Manager will support the development, implementation and management of the GVI strategy. This will include stakeholder engagement, grant workflows and content creation. Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Support Director and other teammates in the development and management of portfolio of grants, contracts, and partnerships focused on the Global Vaccination Initiative.
Support the Vaccination Action Network in developing impact-oriented strategies, project, and programs and executing to achieve targeted objectives.
Manage relationships with grantees, consultants, and partners (including disbursement partner/s) to ensure timeline and regular engagement by supporting setting up agendas for check-in meetings, lessons learned, providing analytical assessments to elevate opportunities for adaptive management and course-correction
Contribute to strategy through landscaping, review of policy documents, and other reports to inform decision-making on the team
Liaise with Communications, Policy and Advocacy team to support communications and influence efforts, including planning program-related convenings and trips through the development of event agendas, talking points, input, as required.
Liaise with Organizational Performance team to support monitoring, evaluation, research and learning for the GVI strategy.
Research potential grantees and experts, write concept notes, grant memos, conduct due diligence, and review grantee’s proposal and budget documents.
Where appropriate, represent the Health team in working groups, committees, and external events and meetings.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; master’s in Public Health, Public Policy, International Development or related field preferred.
Generally expected to have 7-10 years’ of relevant experience; A minimum of 5 years’ of professional experience in global health with at least 2 years of in-country experience in Africa preferred.
Familiarity with global public health, disease surveillance, community based health services, digital health systems and/or health systems strengthening highly recommended.
Experience working with governments (local and/or national) and nongovernmental organizations, including multilateral institutions such as WHO, CDC, and UNICEF a plus.
Fluency in the English language required.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively partner with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver novel insights and practical solutions.
Strong relationship building and management skills and comfort working in a dynamic environment.
Strategic thinker with strong analytic and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to be agile, flexible and innovative in rapidly-changing environments.

We are currently working in a hybrid mode, but once restrictions ease, this role will be based in the Nairobi office. Requires Valid Kenya work authorization.
