The Task Force for Global Health is offering an internship opportunity to a currently enrolled graduate student.
INTERN OPPORTUNITY:
Work as part of the Task Force’s Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy Program
Become exposed to pressing ethical issues in global health
Become familiar with working with coalitions and collaborative concepts
Work with a supervisor who is interested in mentoring
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under direct or general supervision, performs a variety of tasks requiring limited independent judgment.
May research, compile and prepare routine or ad-hoc reports.
May research and maintain records, files, and logs.
May initiate or maintain contact with customers, vendors or contractors and respond to, research, and resolve inquiries of a routine nature.
May organize meetings or other venues and arrange for logistical needs such as set up, handouts, reports, speakers and clean up.
May assist in developing, implementing, and managing programs or projects.
TFGH BACKGROUND:
The Task Force for Global Health (TFGH), based in Atlanta and founded nearly 40 years ago to advance health equity, works with partners in more than 150 countries to eliminate diseases, ensure access to vaccines, and essential medicines, and strengthen health systems to protect populations.
PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
The Communications Intern will support strategic communications initiatives for The Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy (GPZL), a new program at the Task Force for Global Health.
The Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy is a coalition of groups committed to ending leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease.
The partnership’s purpose is to facilitate alignment of the leprosy community and to accelerate effective collaborative action toward the goal of “zero leprosy.” www.zeroleprosy.org
PROJECT:
Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy, Communications
ACTIVITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES:
Under the supervision of Andie Tucker, Project Manager, the intern will:
Assist in collecting information for inclusion in various communications pieces for the Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy website.
Help with communications campaign creation, including campaign planning and content creation.
Review analytics for the Zero Leprosy website, social media channels and newsletter. Create a report with suggestions for areas of audience growth.
Draft membership request letters and maintain member information.
Draft documents, working from meeting notes, project source materials, stakeholder interviews, and/or subject matter research, as appropriate.
Edit documents for readability, consistency, adherence to style/usage guides, and correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled as a graduate student in a college or university.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Exceptional writing skills
Experience in developing web content
Skills in graphic design, photography and/or videography
Experience working in communications/marketing and/or public health
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
