This Opportunity:
The role will continue to build and promote a risk intelligent culture throughout the organization, instilling a sense of ownership, responsibility and accountability for risk.
The Director, Risk Management will influence behaviors to instill a risk intelligent culture across the organization and a risk-based approach for decision making. The role will look to provide risk leadership in determining the organization’s strategy, incorporating strategic risk perspectives, risk appetite, and risk tolerance to optimize performance.
Through the operationalizing and managing of a risk management framework, the Director, Risk Management will aim to protect the organization through oversight and governance measures.
The role will be the leading proponent for an integrated risk management approach, identifying, assessing, and managing risks, as it pertains to data (particularly personal data). Therefore, helping the business understand the relationship and connectivity between different risk areas and to manage them proactively.
The Director, Risk Management will chair the Global Risk Committee.

Reporting and Supervision:
This position reports to the General Counsel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure effective communication and education to increase the understanding of the risk management philosophy, principles, and framework throughout the organization
Develop and maintain Executive Team and business leader relationships to promote and inspire ownership, partnership and education for effectively managing risk
Drive the organization’s response to emerging risks and changes in the business environment, ensuring effective communication, transparency and escalation protocols are in place
Proactively identify and escalate significant risks to management and via management to the Board
Partner with Investigations, HR, Internal Audit, Programs, Standards of Excellence (SOE) and other functions to ensure proper escalation of significant risk and control issues as the arise
Define, align and gain agreement from executives and the Board on the risk strategy and risk appetite
Implementation/Strategy
Foster risk awareness and risk/ reward trade-off evaluation in strategic thinking and decision making
Determine strategic risk priorities, continually ensuring alignment of the business strategy and the risk management strategy and appetite
Identify key lead and lag indicators and create early warning indicators
Embed data analytics and predictive indicators into the risk program to identify, manage and monitor emerging risks
Optimize risk management, providing input to business decisions related to initiatives, resources, capabilities, deployment and financial allocation based on strategy and risk landscape
Proactively collaborate with the business to effectively manage risks to their strategic growth objectives
Provide risk input where M&A activity exists
Analyze and present risk management data to support effective execution and decision making on strategic initiatives
Establish and conduct risk adjusted forecasting
Develop a strong knowledge of industry, products/services, key drivers of growth, and regulatory impact on business
Ensure alignment between the risk appetite statement and the accountability framework
Responds to risk incidents and internal control situations within the corporate context, as well as, in support of the project offices as needed, including conducting investigations
Leadership
Evaluate effectiveness of the current organizational structure to manage the business’ various categories of risk across the organization
Within the existing policy framework of the business, develop and maintain risk-related policies, processes and procedures for consistent, effective risk identification, assessment, mitigation and documentation
Establish protocols that enable the organization to be responsive and resilient to change (e.g., emerging risks, risk events, regulatory requirement changes, etc.)
Provide input into business approval process for strategic initiatives to ensure alignment to risk appetite and agreed strategic priorities of the business
Define, maintain and implement KRIs, KPIs, and root cause analysis to effectively manage and report on risks
Monitor regulatory requirements impacting risk management and confirm program meets and exceeds these requirements
Maintain, adapt and evolve the risk management operating model to align with the organization and manage risk across the three lines of defense
Establish and maintain effective organization-wide training processes and programs for risk management
Implement a robust and effective risk data and analytics environment to assess and measure risk on a continuous basis, including performance related to risk limits and appetite
Assess, oversee, and optimize system capabilities and reporting technology to facilitate informed risk management decision making
Key Competencies Required:
Demonstrated success in providing strategic leadership and management within a similar sized organization
Strong risk management skills and business acumen with a demonstrated track record in recognizing how risk management initiatives would impact the organization
Knowledge of risk management & internal control frameworks
Experience in assessing and designing internal controls and process improvement.
Direct experience in government contracting and ODA international business highly desirable
Experience with developing risk registers and implementing strategies to mitigate risk globally
Strong knowledge of ethics, compliance and track record of leading cultural changes associated with risk mitigation
Proven ability to communicate effectively and at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders
Ability to operate strategically as well as roll-up sleeves and get involved with projects as needed
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to senior management, board members and external stakeholders as needed
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate among a diverse team
Skilled at managing people to achieve high performance from an organization
Proven track record as a trusted advisor and confidant with exceptional judgment
Sound business judgment and skilled with using analysis and experience to make effective decisions
Proactive in professional development to build technical specialization and maintain awareness of best practices
Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards, personal and professional integrity beyond reproach, and unquestioned discretion in maintaining confidentiality
