Interns at URC
The summer internship program at URC is designed to develop highly motivated, engaged learners, and diverse emerging talent make an impact in international development. Internship opportunities are available with multiple teams at URC including Global Security, the Center for Technical Excellence, Operations & Compliance, and the HEARD Project. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to engage with URC colleagues and benefit from an engaging learning environment.
This is a remote, paid internship opportunity. Though remote, the intern may work from the Chevy Chase, MD office.

Intern, Global Health Implementation Science
URC is recruiting Global Health Implementation Science (GHIS) Interns for a minimum three (3) month commitment. This is a great opportunity for public health or communication/knowledge management focused students interested in careers in global health to acquire firsthand experience with our evidence to policy and program partnership work.
GHIS Interns will have an opportunity to support USAID’s Health Evaluation and Applied Research Development (HEARD) Project and continued development of the Implementation Science Collaborative (ISC). Our partnership engages with a range of global partners and stakeholders to improve use of evidence for policy and program decision making in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs).
We have demonstrated support to IS and evaluation activities across a wide range of topical areas including postpartum hemorrhage; respectful maternal care; protecting children from violence; mental health and psychosocial support; disability assistive technologies; urban nutrition and water, sanitation, and hygiene, and evaluations of health systems strengthening programs.
To date, our activities span 18 countries across sub-Saharan Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Madagascar, Nigeria, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Namibia, Rwanda), Asia (Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia), Latin America and the Caribbean (Colombia, Honduras, Panama, Ecuador,), and the Middle East (Jordan), as well as global activities.

Responsibilities:
The GHIS Intern will work closely with the Technical Director for Program Development and Implementation to support communications and knowledge management activities to strengthen our partnership and advance our evidence-to-use goals within our thematic areas. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Work closely with the HEARD team to –
Assist with editing and finalization of technical products: reports, publications, toolkits, and other documents;
Compile and update materials on our website and knowledge sharing platforms
Assist with the capture and articulation of lessons learned from the activities completed thus far;
Support document reviews as a part of ongoing evaluations and research studies as needed;
Support event planning and preparation of materials as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This position requires strong ability to problem solve and create while working in a fast-paced team environment. The GHIS Intern must have excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail and must be able to synthesize and summarize technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in progress) in social sciences, public health, international relations, knowledge management, communication or related areas.
Commitment to a minimum of three months (hours to be negotiated).
Possess an average Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or above.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail.
International experience is a plus.
Fluency in French or Spanish is a plus.
