About the Role
As a Senior Design Associate, you would be joining a small but mighty Digital Team that provides creative support to a range of global health clients, as well as GHS’s own design and branding. Ideally, this candidate is passionate about both design and global health.
Specific responsibilities and expectations for the Senior Design Associate role may include but are not limited to:
Design & Creative
Conceptualize and design a wide variety of client materials for social, web, email and internal use – including graphics, GIFs, reports, event signage and logos – either within brand guidelines or by creating a unique look and feel.
Adapt and resize existing materials to maximize engagement on different social media platforms.
Create eye-catching visuals that make complex concepts more accessible, memorable and actionable, and illustrate points clearly and persuasively.
Verbally present design ideas to both GHS teams and clients.
Maintain and refresh GHS’s organizational brand materials.
Website/Digital Team Support
Work alongside the Design Manager to edit and maintain compelling, intuitive websites for client campaigns on WordPress and Squarespace.
Coordinate strategy and content for an upcoming GHS website refresh.
Project Management
Align with GHS team leads on their goals and vision for their designed work, including asking strategic questions to get the information you need, drawing conclusions and making recommendations for the most effective and efficient way forward.
Demonstrate a high attention to detail across all deliverables.
Maintain an approachable, flexible and positive attitude.
Keep tabs on all the moving pieces of your work and the broader project workstream, often in a fast-paced environment.
Communicate effectively with managers on progress and challenges.
Track the Digital Team’s monthly activities and account deliverables.
Participate in conversations with clients on design-related projects, such as branding, campaign brainstorming, and incorporating feedback on creative assets.
Required Qualifications:
3-6 years of experience with graphic, web design, and animation, managing multiple competing deadlines and projects (professional full-time or comparable freelance experience considered)
Experience with graphic design for social media
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Familiarity with Squarespace and WordPress
A strong portfolio that demonstrates a range of materials and ability to adapt designs to different issues, objectives and audiences
Valuable Qualifications:
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript
Illustration
UX/UI experience
Video/animation experience (AfterEffects, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro)
Storyboarding or motion concepting
Experience and interest in one or more additional fields that are relevant to GHS’s issue work. These may include: global health, public health, global development, human rights, campaign work, communications, public relations or journalism.
