Job Summary:
Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to support the long-term viability and growth of FHI 360 and its family of companies. Contribute to the shared goal of increasing competitiveness in FHI 360’s donor pipeline through private sector partnerships and supporting the development of funding opportunities with the private sector, including corporations, corporate foundations and investors.
Accountabilities:
Serve as a corporate partnerships lead.
Develop, maintain, and expand key external relationships with corporations and other private sector partners that align with the organization’s mission and corporate priorities.
Grow awareness of the organization’s mission and brand among prospective corporate partners through public speaking engagements, matchmaking events, individual meetings and calls.
Identify opportunities for private sector partnerships, and collaborate with business units, regional offices, and departments on specific proposal opportunities; expand efforts to diversify our sub-awardees across the board.
Serve in an advisory role on proposals which require a private sector engagement strategy or private sector partner.
Communicate USAID and other bilateral funders’ private sector engagement strategies and priorities and to prospective partners.
Track and report out on private sector partnerships across the organization.
Develop relationships with private sector in the U.S. and in the regions; and facilitate relationships with business units, regional offices and departments.
Establish Memorandums of Understanding with prospective corporate and foundation partners that have a shared vision and strategic alliance (thought leadership, cost share, co-investment, etc.).
Help build robust pipeline of corporate and foundation partners; Support business units and regional offices to identify and prioritize prospective partners.
Support the development of proposals and pitches to corporate and foundation funders.
Conduct due diligence on prospective corporate funders and provide analysis and findings on same.
Create strategies for target corporate and foundation accounts.
Serve as relationship manager for select accounts, with a focus toward growing existing relationships; Maintain a detailed understanding of the partners’ business (pain points, business planning, etc.).
Strategically use Salesforce system for client relationship management.
Strengthen the capacity of staff to initiate and respond to new, strategic opportunities through the creation of tools and/or delivery of training, coaching and mentoring at the business unit, country office or regional level.
Develop an external platform on topics related to private sector engagement by strategically convening on topics of key interest, participating in relevant conferences and networks, and/or writing for external publications.
Develop communications materials (website, one-pagers, talking points, etc.).
Deliver subset of reports on corporations and foundations bid-win rate and other result-oriented metrics; synthesize debriefings and other learnings.
Work closely with subsidiaries and affiliates in the FHI family of companies to develop partnerships with alternative business models.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with establishing new strategic relationships.
Ability to represent the organization at a variety of meetings and forums involving donors, partners, board members, the public.
Strong knowledge of organization’s technical capacity and programs to share information and create new partnerships/relationships in one or more key areas: health, education, governance, civil society, social change, gender, economic growth, research and the environment.
Demonstrates and applies sound judgment with managing internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to establish and manage trusted relationships with internal and external senior business leaders.
Ability to influence, motivate and works well with others.
Ability to understand and negotiate procurement agreements.
Ability to draft basic contracting terms.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Works on problems that are varied and complex that require novel and creative approaches to solve.
Addresses, oversees and resolves issues from external constituents and revives old or fading partnerships.
Contributes to decisions on the overall strategy and direction of the entire organization.
Decisions and actions may affect a departments’ results.
Supervision Given/Received:
Contributes to business and operational decisions that affect the department and/or area.
Reports to Director.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or International Equivalent in Business Administration, International Development, Public Policy or Related Field.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
Typically requires a minimum 8+ years of professional work experience with small businesses, relationship management, or business development
Demonstrated experience with international and domestic funders across multiple human development sectors (USAID, EU, DFID, DFAT, Global Fund, etc.).
Demonstrated experience with government funding (domestic and foreign), multilateral organizations, or major corporations and foundations.
Experience with global health or advancing social equity in the United States preferred
Prior experience with working overseas preferred.

Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to move 5 – 25 lbs.
