Job Description
Opportunity
The Local Health System Sustainability (LHSS) project, a USAID-funded global health system strengthening project, seeks a Communications Specialist to support a wide range of communications activities including technical writing, social media, webinars, website management, and USAID reporting. The Communications Specialist is a junior position and is designed to provide the selected candidate with many opportunities to develop a wide range of communications knowledge and skills, while learning about global health systems. The Communications Specialist will work as part of the LHSS Communications and Knowledge Management team and collaborate with technical teams located in the U.S. and 15 countries. This is a full-time position based in Rockville, MD with option for remote working.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Help share the successes of LHSS through multiple communications platforms
Upload and adapt content for LHSS website (requires use of Drupal)
Review and edit PowerPoint presentations
Support communications planning and rollout for various LHSS-specific initiatives
Provide promotional and organizational support for LHSS webinars
Contribute to the publication of LHSS monthly newsletter
Manage multiple activities or projects with competing deadlines
Report on communication campaign engagement and analytics
Provides graphics support for LHSS publications and presentations
Other support as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
1-3 years’ experience in marketing and/or communications
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, or public health
Interest in global health and international development
Demonstrated excellence in writing and proficiency in basics of graphic design
Strong communication and time-management skills
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree + Two years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $56,618.52 to to $79,265.93 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis
