INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: EngenderHealth seeks a Business Development Intern to assist in EngenderHealth’s activities in developing new business worldwide with private and public sector donors. EngenderHealth’s Business Development Team provides assistance to its country and regional offices across Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa in responding to requests for proposals and in engaging with new and existing donors. This internship presents college and/or graduate students passionate about sexual and reproductive health and rights, international development, and/or global health to gain exposure in the field and learn about key business development processes. The Business Development Intern will support capture and proposal development efforts for a variety of donors, gaining knowledge and experience in proposal management processes, partnerships, and research and intelligence gathering for strategic bids.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities could include, depending on departmental needs:
Conduct partner mapping for upcoming bids, and/or for more general potential partnerships, including researching local, regional, and international organizations that may serve as potential collaborators for EngenderHealth.
Create knowledge management repository for potential partners by country, type of organization, and focus area.
Support Proposal Managers with capture activities for large, upcoming bids, which may include activities such as conducting background research to understand the context of a particular country, analyzing the competitive landscape, researching potential partners, writing a context analysis for the background section of a proposal, etc.
Conduct landscaping and background research to inform proposal background and contextual analysis by reviewing relevant recent journal articles, news, USG technical updates.
Attend relevant virtual events regarding upcoming funding opportunities, new donor initiatives, etc. and share learnings back to Business Development team.
Analyze donor strategies and priorities using existing landscape analysis, and make recommendations for action points in pursuing funding from these donors.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Enrolled in Master’s Degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s Degree program in relevant field (e.g., public health, international relations).
Strong ability to write in English.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in different socio-cultural contexts.
Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
Proficiency in French a plus.
Must be comfortable and respectful of EngenderHealth’s programming that promotes sexual and reproductive rights, gender equality, sexual diversity, and LGBTQ rights.

Key deliverables and timeline to be determined with supervisor at the start of internship based on departmental needs.
