The Team: The Biotech Accelerator is an exciting new team with the vision to fund the creation of novel technology capabilities that enable the achievement of the foundation’s mission. Our team will fund the conception, design, and testing of fundamentally new biotech platforms that have the potential to change current best practices or business models and show proof of concept for these platforms. By leveraging grants, equity, and donor capital, we will work to ensure the capabilities advanced further the foundation’s objectives and support the transition of these new technology platforms to execution partners. Some initial platform capabilities that we are starting to explore include harnessing the power of chemo-sensing for ultra-high sensitivity detection of volatiles, programming immune system responses for design of next generation vaccine modalities, and engineering antibodies for oral delivery. We will be exploring exciting new transformative technology capabilities beyond these within our broad mandate.
Your Role:
Our team seeks a dynamic Senior Advisor, Biotech Accelerator who will support our Biotech Accelerator Program by providing key expertise regarding the successful development of corporate opportunities that advance global health objectives with new, early-stage, and established companies. You will evaluate company business development plans for global health application suitability and sustainability. You are responsible for providing subject matter expert advice on designing optimal operating models that further global health objectives. You will focus on new and exciting projects for biopharmaceuticals and life science companies that further the foundation’s global health objectives, such as novel gene editing modalities and chemo-sensing technologies. You will influence future strategic directions of the Biotech Accelerator.
What You’ll Do :
Define strategic approach for driving applications that advance global health objectives in the business development models for new and early-stage company clients
Use scientific and business knowledge and skills to analyze company creation opportunities that align with programmatic objectives and provide strategic rationale for proposed potential strategic business partners
Establish trusted relationship partner companies to drive global health application discussions and provide strategic guidance related to their business objectives for sustainability in global health markets
Provide subject matter expert guidance to partner companies in operating model and market sustainability across global health applications
Support cross-functional due diligence teams to understand key areas in which a target company may require business development support and put together execution plans to address global health objectives
Collaborate with colleagues to develop non-confidential and confidential program presentation materials with a strategic business development focus to maximize the global health impact of our investments
Perform global health application opportunity assessments, conducting and incorporating market sizing, landscape analysis, primary and secondary market research, and forecasting
Identify new investment opportunities that align with our global health goals and objectives

Your Experience: You are a dynamic leader with a keen business mind, who is energized by the idea of turning ambitious concepts into life-changing realities. Additionally, we seek:
An advanced degree in a relevant Life Science discipline (PhD or MD) and advanced business degree (MBA) is required or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 15 years of biopharma business development experience required with a track record of success in building new companies
Experience collaborating with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, clinical trial organizations, and academic institutions/universities
Operational experience in a biotech is highly desired, preferably in a business development role
Research experience in gene therapy or infectious disease product development are highly preferred
