Project Overview :
The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP).
Role Overview :
The Diversity and Inclusion Adviser will provide expert advice and assistance to the Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) to strengthen policy and practice that promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion across the PALM scheme and partners.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide advice to the PLF and to PALM scheme stakeholders in accordance with Australian legislation on employment and workplace obligations, rights and responsibilities in key program policy documents, systems and processes.
Support the development and delivery of an awareness raising campaign to influence positive behavioural and organisational cultural changes towards diversity and inclusion.
Support the development and delivery of a series of user-friendly capacity building resources that assist stakeholders to understand obligations, rights and responsibilities under federal and state discrimination legislation, and discrimination provisions in the Fair Work Act, Work Health and Safety Act etc.
Work directly with select PALM scheme approved employers, promoting the benefits of diversity and inclusion and assist them to identify opportunities to strengthen workplace policy and practice towards a more diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination and other exclusionary practices.
Work in collaboration with the GEDSI Manager and key internal stakeholders to progress the Inclusive Employment Practice Working Group action plan.
Facilitate training, mentoring, and other learning opportunities for the PLF team to increase awareness about and build skills in promoting diversity and inclusion within the PALM scheme.
Requirements:
A degree with a qualification in Industrial Relations, Business, Humanities, Social Sciences or other related disciplines.
Extensive experience in one or more professional disciplines, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion and a passion to improve it in Australian workplaces.
A highly developed understanding of human, workplace and safety legislation that outlines rights and responsibilities of employers and employees in the workplace and community settings.
Demonstrated relevant experience in policy analysis, policy development and the provision of advice on diversity and inclusion.
Well-developed analytical, conceptual skills and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding for the drivers and levers for organisational behavioural and cultural change.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience working in the Pacific or an international context preferred but not essential.

This position is a short term consulting assignment with 45 input days up until 30 June 2023.
